Kinhaven Music School (VT) Cancels Summer 2020 Sessions

Dear Kinhaven Friends,

We are heartbroken to announce we will not be able to hold Kinhaven Senior and Junior Sessions for 2020.

Although the State of Vermont, the CDC, and our own rigorous planning presented a possible path forward, there remained too many barriers to ensuring the health and wellbeing of our students, staff, and faculty. We love the Kinhaven community so much that even one barrier was too much.

We were driven to find a path forward to running Kinhaven for many reasons. We believed that Kinhaven offered real solutions for many groups affected by this pandemic: children who have been deeply affected on a social and emotional level; our music world that has been turned upside down; parents who want to see their children engaged in their passion; and our entire Kinhaven community that wishes to glimpse how it might be to return to normal for a short time.
We believed in our hearts that camp should run this summer, which is why we waited this long, consulted with our board of trustees, and convened a task force of volunteers and medical experts that engaged in rigorous planning up to this very moment.

Shockingly, this is the first time in 69 years that Kinhaven won’t be in session, but we are comforted knowing we did everything in our power to try to make it work.

To families of students, our Senior and Junior Session Directors will be in touch directly with you in the coming days.

We will pivot to developing ways for all of us to connect to our students and the greater community in some way this summer and begin planning for a wonderful and safe 2021 Kinhaven Season.
We miss you all, and we cannot wait to connect with you soon.
With warm regards,

Tony Mazzocchi and Deborah Buck
